Jeepneys in Palawan

Jeepneys in Palawan
Whenever you are in the Philippines, no sight is complete without spotting jeepneys roaming around the streets. They are very common anywhere you may be. In Palawan, jeepneys are counted as the most efficient mode of travel as well.

Although Palawan is composed of different islands, commuters can find land transport means as a way of getting from one place to another. Jeepneys, for example, are assigned specific routes that could take you from one municipality to another. Due to the underdeveloped roads, tricycles are mostly preferred for land transport. Then again, long trips are usually aided by jeepneys.

Jeepney terminals can be found in specific stations all around the province. It would be convenient to ask the locals if you do not know your way through. Palawan locals are as friendly and as hospitable as everyone from the Philippines. You would not have a hard time obtaining any kind of information that you need for a smooth travel from them. And oh, do not be afraid to be adventurous when you are in Palawan. Do not stick to the most convenient and most expensive means of moving around. That way would prevent you from experiencing the city at its best.

You see, experiencing the province has something to do with mixing in with the locals and discovering their way of life. You can only do that if you do what the locals do. By riding jeepneys, you would not only get closest to the locals. You would also see, more or less, how they go through their everyday life the culture, the routines, the lifestyle.

One tip when riding Palawan jeepneys is for you to be patient. Jeepneys charge cheap but that amount may come with a price as well. For those not in the know of the Philippine jeepneys, they are fierra-like vehicles that are open air and have crowded seating. In Palawan, jeepneys do not depart from the terminal until they reach the full load of passengers. That would mean some waiting time for you and quite a difficult time squeezing in with everyone else. A passenger would be right next to you. If you carry a load of baggage, it would not be advisable for you to take on jeepneys. If you travel light and you enjoy the relaxing breeze of the province, however, jeepneys can be favorable options for you.

In some cases, jeepneys can be provided for rent. As such, they are a spacious, convenient, and cost-efficient means of traveling through the province. Jeepney rentals may be availed for PhP800 to PhP1000, depending on the type of jeepney (ordinary or air-conditioned), the travel period, and the distance to be covered.

Jeepneys are traditional modes of transport in all parts of the Philippines. If you are to explore the country in general and Palawan in particular, you must be ready to take on this one-of-a-kind experience as well.
